Gender Equality and Social Inclusion/GBV

Gender Equality and social inclusion/ Gevnder Besed Violence and women empowerment: 

Sarbodaya Nepal Jumla, as being women's organization, carried out gender equality and women empowerment activities in Jumla. It provided support to raising awareness on women's and girls' rights provisioned in constitution, national policy, plan and acts and regulations. In order to implement these activities, it has developed gender facilitators, gender equality champions (men campaigners), to educate women, men, and local authorities about the gender equality and women right issues. It provided support to assess the situation of rights enjoying by the women and girls, as the men and boys in the society. The gender facilitators and gender equality champions mobilized to create critical mass against any incidences of gender-based and domestic violence. In case of violence they raise issues publicly and take for prosecution to legal authority, police, and judicial committee of ward municipalities.  The details are given in this report.  So far 224 gender facilitators are developed and mobilized by Sarbodaya Nepal Jumla in the project 13 rural municipalities.  The adolescent girls clubs facilitated to raise awareness among the girls, school teachers, girls and boys from school dropout and school enrolled categories.  Sarbodaya Nepal Jumla developed and mobilized nine adolescent girl clubs in the project areas. The child and early marriage, restriction during menstrual period, domestic violence by family members, gender-based violence by friends, employers, and authority are common types of violence faced by local women in Jumla. Sarbodaya Nepal have been 54 wards, 8 rural muncpality 1154 households and 17431 people capacitor on gender equality and social inclusive and against gender based violence (GBV)
